Description:

Position Purpose: To support the families of The Children’s Learning Center with their well-being, build strong partnerships, and connect them to vital health, social, and community resources. Promote family self-sufficiency, ensure children are up to date on health requirements and support positive outcomes for children and caregivers alike.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Family Support and Engagement

o Build trusting, respectful relationships with families through regular communication and home visits.

o Assist families in setting and achieving individualized family goals related to health, education, employment, housing, and more.

o Support parent education, workshops, and family engagement events in collaboration with other staff members.

o Support culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices in all family interactions.

Health Coordination

o Ensure children meet program and state health requirements such as immunizations, well-child exams, and dental visits based on information provided by the Family Health Advocate.

o Coordinate health referrals and follow-up with families and community providers.

o Track health screenings and document using our data systems as needed to support the family health advocate.

o Promote preventative health, nutrition, mental health and safety practices with families.

Data Entry and Collaboration

o Maintain accurate records of family contact, services provided, and goal progress.

o Complete all required documentation in a timely and confidential manner.

o Assist in preparing various reports, compliance reviews and other funding requirements.

o Work with various staff members to make sure family needs are met.

Educational Requirements

o High school diploma or GED required.

Requirements:Experience and Skill Requirements

o Experience or degree in social work or early childhood education.

o Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred.

o Excellent communication and organizational skills.

o Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and maintain nonjudgmental support.

General Staff Responsibilities

Ø Fulfill role as mandated reporter as stated in Child Abuse and Neglect Mandatory Reporting Policy.

Ø Current enrollment in the Office of Child Care Central Background Registry.

Ø Current physical examination, drug screen, and TB screen documentation upon hire.

Ø Maintain confidentiality of staff and family information.

Ø Respond appropriately to crisis or emergency situations as designated by program policies and procedures.

Ø Assist team members, parents, and volunteers in maintaining an orderly, safe, and attractive center.

Ø Communicate effectively with staff, families, children, and the public using the telephone and face-to-face, one-to-one, and in group settings.

Ø Project a professional work image in both dress and manner.

Ø Be present at work to provide consistency of services.

Ø Demonstrate commitment and familiarity with mission, vision, goals and all policies.

Ø Demonstrate willingness to learn and grow in own professional development which may include taking training, seminars, or conferences. Different positions may require specific training requirements.

Ø Take on other projects and activities as assigned.

Physical Requirements
  • Daily repetitive hand and wrist motions and maintain static arm-hand positions, via production/copying, keyboarding, phone work.
  • Sitting, kneeling on the floor, sitting in child size chairs.
  • Lift and move objects up to 40 lbs.
  • Maintain the safety of the environment and children through visual, auditory, and smelling senses.
