Close Date: Overview The salary range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00 per hour depending upon qualifications and is non-negotiable. This recruitment will remain open until filled. The research group of Associate Professor Dwayne Roach at San Diego State University, California, offers a Research Specialist I position in Microbiology / Bioinformatics.
We invite application for a research specialist position to develop and pre-clinically test phage-based therapeutics to combat multi-drug resistant pathogens of clinical concern including
P. aeruginosa, K. pneumoniae ,
M. tuberculosis , and
M. abscessus . Using methods ranging from time kill kinetics, microfluidic, comparative genomics, computational biology, and immunological analyses, our team conduct in-depth mechanistic research into the selection and formulation of phage therapeutics.

Responsibilities Job Responsibilities (95%):
- As a research specialist, you will oversee data generation, conduct analyses, and provide insightful interpretations. Other responsibilities will be to collaborate with fellow project members, supervise and train student researchers, and coordinate routine operations of lab. Adaptability to a diverse, interdisciplinary, and translational research environment, along with a commitment to discover new concepts in antimicrobial therapeutics, is essential

Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: - Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university
- One-year of experience in technical research or statistical work
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in biology,
- Documented background in microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, or computational biology,
- Experience in a BSL-2 environment,
- Experience with bacteriophages preferred,
- Experience with at least one of these species aeruginosa, K. pneumoniae, M. tuberculosis , and M. abscessus,
- Experience with python and R preferred,
- Cell culture preferred,
- cGMP experience is preferred,
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with colleagues from different disciplines,
- Proactive attitude and enthusiasm for research,
- Ability to work under deadlines with minimal supervision,
- Fluent written and spoken English.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Experience with bacteriophages preferred.

- Experience with python and R preferred.
- Cell culture preferred. 5. cGMP experience is preferred
