Job Description

As a Senior Operations Engineer, you will lead and manage the lifecycle of challenging cross-functional projects, developing and delivering the next generation of sortation and distribution solutions. You are a customer-obsessed leader responsible for planning and implementing facility network infrastructure, including new builds, retrofits, expansions, and program initiatives. Collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project handovers is essential.

You will work with talented engineers in designing, developing, and delivering physical distribution systems globally. Your role involves managing technology or integration projects, working with vendors and partners, and understanding industry technologies used in fulfillment and distribution centers. Managing schedules, mitigating risks, and controlling project scope are key to meeting timelines and minimizing disruptions.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage challenging projects independently, acting as the owner to meet objectives across organizations or geographies.
  2. Participate in engineering reviews, influencing system solutions and architecture.
  3. Set project priorities, establish milestones, and drive schedules with stakeholders and vendors.
  4. Lead the execution of system and equipment designs, including installation and qualifications.
  5. Facilitate effective meetings, document decisions, and align expectations.
  6. Communicate project status, risks, and mitigation plans clearly and regularly.
  7. Articulate system and equipment designs to internal teams and partners.
  8. Manage change orders, purchase orders, and invoice approvals efficiently.
  9. Build strong relationships across projects with stakeholders.
  10. Identify and lead process improvements to enhance team efficiency and value.
  11. Travel approximately 80% domestically, with potential for extended periods including weekends.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Mechanical Engineering or STEM field
  • 8+ years of experience in project or process engineering, project management, or manufacturing
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects involving automated equipment and integrated systems
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, REVIT, BIM 360, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business Administration, or related STEM field
  • Experience in operations management or distribution centers with material handling and automation projects
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, automation solutions (conveyors, sorters, robotic cells)
  • Proven leadership in industrial engineering projects
